Christine Peaden Obituary

Christine Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Peaden, age 41, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. A lifelong resident of Bay County, Christine was a 1994 graduate of Mosley High School and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1998. Christine was a loving daughter to Walt and Judy Fitzpatrick; wife of 18 years to Jonathan Peaden; mother to Kathleen, Caroline, and Jackson; and sister to Rebecca (Martyn) Christopher. She was a special "Aunt C" to Ellie and Colin Christopher. Her extended family includes her father- and mother-in-law, Mike and Kate Peaden; brothers-in-law Stephen (Adria) and Adam (Lydia) Peaden; and Peaden nieces and nephews: Gillian, Trey, Cole, Luke, Seth, Elizabeth, and Hannah. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Clyde and Betty Conner and Walter and Clara Fitzpatrick.

Christine was blessed with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Christine's faith was strong and she was a parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church. She recently was appointed to the parish's Finance Committee. Christine's many accomplishments include membership in Alpha Xi Delta sorority at UF, where she was honored as Sister of the Year in 2008. She was a member of the Junior Women's Club of Panama City, holding the positions of president, secretary, and treasurer. From 2003-2008, Christine served as Artist co-chair, Artist Chair, Children's Art Market Chair, Finance Co-chair, and T-shirt Chair for the annual Spring Festival of the Arts. She received numerous Juniors awards, including the Charlotte Meads Smith Outstanding Volunteer Award, the Sandy Johnson and Anita Segler Awards, Outstanding Board Member, and Heart and Soul Award. Most recently, Christine served as coach for North Bay Haven Elementary School's state Odyssey of the Mind team, spending countless hours at school and at her home encouraging the school's best and brightest. Everyone who knew Christine found in her a faithful, loving, loyal friend. Jon and her children were the loves of her life. She delighted in their accomplishments and was their biggest cheerleader. When she wasn't making sure her children were present for their extracurricular and church activities--sometimes going in three different directions--she could be found volunteering at their schools and supporting their academic programs. On the afternoon of her passing, she and her children completed a 2,000-piece Volkswagen van puzzle. She absolutely adored them and was determined to make their childhoods memorable and loving. Christine always put herself last. She was the most caring, humble, brave, unselfish person you could ever meet. Ever the Florida Gator fan, it didn't matter whether it was football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, or any other sport. If the Gators were playing, she was watching! She had the opportunity to spend her last birthday at the Super Regional playoffs that lead up to the College World Series. Camping with her family was another passion. She would work for days to prepare yummy foods and fun activities for the family. Their campsites had to be in just the right location! Christine and Jon have a large group of camping friends. She looked forward to those special times with them.

Visitation will be at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 3308 E. 15th St., Panama City, on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 8:30-10 a.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Christine's name to Cincinnati Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 5202, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45201-5202 or online at www.cincinnatichildrens.org/giving.

We met Christine at University of Florida. My husband Bret had become roommates with Jon. We shared a lot of laughs on double dates...going to movies and eating at the fish camp in town. We moved to NC after college, but got back together for the guys to be in each other's weddings. It was such a fun summer. We'd meet up again for fun at Six Flags and a tour of the Braves stadium.
We were excited for the call to hear about the birth of their daughter Kathleen. Christine gave me wonderful new mom advice as I was not far behind expecting our first child. When we had the opportunity to live in Florida for a couple of years, we met up a few times for dinner and an overnight...sharing stories and always laughing while kids played. Thankfully they came to our dentist, their friend Jeff Strickland, and we always got a visit out of that, too!
Our family was shocked to see Christine had passed away, knowing she brought so much joy to her family and those that knew her. Her presence in this world will be missed by all who knew her. She was kind and giving ...may we remember to share goodness with others in honor of her.

Dear Fitzpatrick and Peaden Families,
I would like to express my sincere sympathy on the loss of this precious life! I first had the pleasure of knowing Christine in my Pre-K Class at Pons. I was very Blessed to be her Teacher, and still to this day, I brag on her! It is extremely impressive to have a four year old who can write their entire name: CHRISTINE ELIZABETH FITZPARICK! It was quite a pleasure to have the ability to watch Christine mature through the years, becoming a devoted Catholic,Wife and Mother, as well as her many accomplishments! My thoughts and Prayers are with the Fitzpatrick and Peaden Families!
With love,
Beth
