Fritz Hoehne Obituary

Fritz Hoehne, 49, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008.

He was born May 25, 1959, in North Platte, Neb.

Fritz was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hoehne. He is survived by his mother, Donna Hoehne; brother, John Hoehne and his wife, Deni, and their children, Jena, John Riley and Katharine who reside in Boise, Idaho; sister, Lou Ann Hoehne and her life partner, Hank Schneider, of Loveland, Colo.; and his beloved cats, Boris and Natasha of Panama City, Fla.

Fritz was a 1979 graduate of North Platte Senior High in North Platte, Neb., and a 1983 graduate of Kearney State College in Kearney, Neb., with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Locally, Fritz was a former member of the Greater Beaches Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and a current member of the Bay County United Way Board of Directors.
Fritz was an all-star baseball pitcher at the age of 12. Shortly thereafter, he was invited to try out for the Kansas City Royals, but because of child labor laws was forced to decline the offer. Later in life, Fritz was a frustrated golfer with a game characterized by moments of brilliance followed by long periods of mediocrity.

Fritz was in the cable television business for more than 25 years. Starting in door to door sales, he moved into a series of marketing roles in the cable industry.

Fritz worked in Destin, Fla., in the late 1980s with Cox Cable and developed a passion for the beaches and people of the Emerald Coast. He realized his dream to return as general manager with Comcast Cable in Panama City, Fla., in 2006.
Fritz loved the Nebraska Huskers - a lesson in futility the last few years - his family, employees and community.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Panama City.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Fritz to the Humane Society of Bay County, 1600 Bay Ave., Panama City, FL 32405.

I had the pleasure of knowing Fritz very well. He was kind, compassionate, gentle, smart, handsome, a great leader at his company (particularly during times of crisis) and very devoted to his job. He tried to be healthy in mind, body and spirit, and ws a good Christian man. Oh, and he kept his house clean, too! Liked and loved by so many others, I will be one of many who will miss him tremendously.
