Ginger Jones Obituary
Born in Lumberton, North Carolina, she had been a resident of Callaway, Florida, since 1987. Ginger retired as a logistics clerk for Tyndall Air Force Base, Main Exchange. She was a Protestant by faith and a member of "The Round Table." Ginger enjoyed traveling with her husband; and really loved spending time with her grandsons; tending flowers in the yard; and dog, Mia. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. During her battle with cancer, Ginger was supported by her family and special friends from the TAFB BX. She fought a hard battle.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael T. Jones of Callaway; step-mother; Patsy Glaze of Marion, SC, two daughters; Michelle Carleton and husband, Ricky; and Karen Laymon of Panama City, one brother; Gordon C. Glaze of Myrtle Beach, SC, one sister-in-law; Susan Jones of Johns Island, SC, five grandsons; Mike (Kayla) Carleton, Jacob Carleton, Jesse Carleton, Ryan Laymon and Mason Laymon, and one great granddaughter; Isla Carleton.
A celebration of Ginger's life will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 5:00 PM in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at cholangiocarcinoma.org in memory of Mrs. Ginger G. Jones.

Mike, my old friend and neighbor from Mullins, I am so sorry about Ginger. I never knew her but I knew of her. I knew her father well though. Perhaps we can connect again one day.

Ms. Ginger was always so kind and warm-hearted. I remember visiting her at her house when Anna Grace was a baby. She brought me to the back of the house and showed me all conceivable manner of cribs, pack-n-plays, toys for little ones of all ages and said that I was family now and whatever I needed for Anna Grace that I was welcome to it. She barely knew me, but was so quick and easy with her kindness. I'll never forget that.

My heart goes out to all of you in the family. Even though I have not seen Ginger in years, I have many fond memories of times we were together as kids at her house in Marion or at my house in W Columbia. We were cousins and had some good times together. I pray that each of you feel the Lord's peace and comfort as you are surrounded by friends and family. Lean on your memories of good times had through the years.
