Jamie McCormick Obituary

Last September, Jamie was one of four men lost at sea during a tragic accident involving a storm of hurricane strength. Search efforts were conducted for 6 months following with only minimal debris recovered from the boat. Sadly, no remains were located.

A memorial service will take place on his birthday, Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, starting at Northstar Church at 7 p.m., Pastor Marty Martin officiating. Followed with a Celebration of Life at the Frank Nelson Community Building from 8-10 p.m. All are invited to come as you are and join us in remembering this unforgettable guy.

Jamie, 34, lived in Bay County his whole life. Attended Southport Elementary, Mowat Middle School and graduated from Mosley High School in 1992. He married his high school sweetheart, Karrie Cameron, in 1996. In 2001, they had a beautiful daughter, Madie. He was a Merchant Marine and worked as a marine engineer. He had a "love/hate" relationship with the sea. Jamie touched many lives with his humor and wit. Always had a smile on his face and a beer in his hand. He lived life to its fullest and could have a good time in any situation.

Jamie is survived by his wife of 12 years, Karrie; and their daughter, Madie; parents, Don and Marty McCormick of Southport, Fla.; two brothers, Doug McCormick of Panama City, Fla. and Don "Peanut" McCormick Jr. with his wife, Allison, and their children, Haley Hutchinson, Jordan Hutchinson-McCormick and Dalton McCormick, all of Panama City, Fla.; two sisters, Tammy Clark with her husband, Brad, and their children, Stephen and Michelle deVillers of Southport, Fla., and Jana Smith with her daughter, Whitney Grice, and her son, Ashton, of Memphis, Tenn.; mother- and father-in-law, Don and Beverly Cameron of Panama City, Fla.; brother-in-law, Jason Cameron of Panama City, Fla.; also a large extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and many good friends who are considered family.

Marti,
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
It's been a number of years since we've
seen each other but I seems like only yesterday that our kids were at Southport Elementary School. Leah and
Leslie send their love.

The loss of a child is one of the hardest things a person can suffer. The loss of a husband is also one of the hardest things a person can suffer. Having been through both, I can assure you that God will get you through. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

KARRIE, WORDS ARE NOT ADEQUATE TO EXPRESS THE SADNESS THAT IS IN MY HEART FOR YOU AND MADIE AT THE LOSS OF JAMIE. I HAD HEARD THAT HE HAD BEEN LOST AT SEE SOME TIME AGO. I REMEMBER PRAYING FOR HIS SAFE RETURE WHEN I HEARD. IT SEEMS UNBELIEVABLE THAT IT HAS BEEN SIX MONTHS SINCE HIS DISAPPEARANCE. I'LL NEVER FORGET MEETING JAMIE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE SECOND FLOOR HALLWAY BEFORE YOU WERE MARRIED. I LOVED HIS SMILE IMMEDIATELY AND KNEW HE WAS OUT OF HIS MIND FOR YOU BY THE WAY HE LOOKED AT YOU. I KNOW OUR LORD HAS HELD YOU AND MADIE FAST IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND AND I KNOW HOW CLOSE YOUR FAMILY IS. IT'S HARD TO UNDERSTAND THE COURSE OUR LIVES TAKE,BUT IT ISN'T HARD TO KNOW THAT OUR DAYS ARE EACH PLANNED AND HELD IN THE PALM OF OUR LORD'S HAND. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU ARE WHEN YOU CAN. TOGETHER IN JESUS....ANNA JEAN AND ASHANTI...
