COAL TOWNSHIP - The Rev. Albert N. Schell Jr., 68, of 25 21st St., passed away peacefully in his sleep at home after a long illness Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018.

He was born in Shamokin, Sept. 1, 1949, to the late Albert N. Schell Sr. and Betty Troutman Schell.

Albert married his soulmate, the love of his life, Marlene Annette (Tharp) Schell, July 31, 1971. Their 47-year marriage was truly a marriage of love and friendship. He always said, "he breathed in and she breathed out."

Albert graduated from Shamokin High School in 1967, and Williamsport Area Community College in 1972. After being employed by the local cable company for 20-plus years, he answered God's call to enter the ministry. He received his pastoral license from Drew University, New Jersey, and continued his education through the Wesleyan School of Theology in Washington D.C.

Albert served as pastor at Emmanuel United Methodist Church and Zion United Methodist Church, and considered Trevorton as his home church. He loved to sing in the choir.

In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by his daughter, Jennifer L. (Schell) and son-in-law, Raymond Garancosky Jr. He had a special bond with his daughter and loved playing pool and taking trips together. They shared the same great sense of humor. He was very close to Raymond and considered him a son.

Albert was blessed with two grandchildren he adored and made it a priority to spend time with, Hallie L. Garancosky and Jared L. Garancosky and his fiancé, Alexandria J. Comly. Albert was very proud to have the opportunity to baptize his only great-granddaughter, Cambria Jayne Garancosky. "Pap" loved camping, fishing, movies, concerts and teaching his grandkids how to ride bikes. He was the most loving husband, dad and pap, and will remain forever in our hearts

Albert is also survived by a special nephew, Darrin Bartholomew; a brother, Keith Schell; and Gail Mogelinski and Rich, Gilbert and Cindy and Rolland Krebs, with whom he was very close.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth; and brothers, James, Raymond, Gary and Donald.

SCHELL - Rev. Albert N. Schell Jr., 68, of 25 21st St., Coal Township. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Farrow Funeral Directors, Shamokin, with the Rev. Beverly Petrovich presiding. Burial will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. A viewing will be held in the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. The family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, Manna for the Many or the American Heart Association.
