PAXINOS - Anthony "Tony" Kandrot, 71, of 710 Reading Turnpike Road, died peacefully at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, after a valiant fight with cancer.
Anthony was born on June 15, 1947, in Kulpmont, a son of the late Anthony and Mary (Mecca) Kandrot.
He attended Kulpmont schools and graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1965. After graduation, Anthony enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1970. After his time in the service he attended Harrisburg Area Community College, graduating in 1972. Upon graduation, Anthony worked for various local contractors before starting his own general contracting business in 1978, with his oldest son joining the business in 2017.
Anthony was always full of life and up for the next adventure. In 1991, he earned his private pilot's license.
On Feb. 14, 1995, he was married in Las Vegas to the former Deborah Oshman, who survives. At the age of 50, he became a first-time father. He had a lifelong love of the beach, his animals and his great friends and family.
Along with his wife of 23 years, Debi, he is survived by four children, Zsofia, Dominick, Antonio and Fatima, all at home; a brother, Edward Kandrot and his wife, Kathy, of Shiremanstown; three sisters, Mary Ann and her husband, Donald Dudash, of Easton, Gloria and her husband, Paul Phenicie, of Ephrata, and Nancy Kaminsky, of Kulpmont; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Although I did not know Tony he was a kind and generous man to my dad, Stanley "Duke" Gusick who enjoyed going to the trailer in Rehoboth Beach fishing. My condolences to the family. Rest easy Tony.
