David Kehler Obituary

MOUNT CARMEL — David P. Kehler, 66, of 331 S. Maple St., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community in the company of his devoted wife and son.

Born on Feb. 14, 1948, in Shamokin, he was a son of the late Helen (Weller) and Paul Kehler.

He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1966. After a short stint at Pratt and Whitney Aviation in Connecticut following high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force. While in the Air Force, he served as the chief flight mechanic on a C-141 Starlifter. He conducted many missions throughout the world, including Vietnam and Europe.

After an honorable discharge on Oct. 12, 1972, he returned home to Mount Carmel. He began to work for Kerris and Helfrick Mining and remained an employee there for 37 years.

On Sept. 21, 1974, he married the former Barbara Witkoski, who survives.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Mark ,and his wife Jennifer, of Elysburg; he was the proud Pop-Pop of twins, Jillian and Maxwell. Max often referred to his Pop-Pop as "his best friend." Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Richard Dugan, of Bensalem, and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Debbie Kehler, of Thornton, Colo.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Loretta and Henry Witkoski, a niece and nephew and their families also survive.

KEHLER — David P. Kehler, 66, of 331 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Susan J. Roehs, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. Viewing will be held 9 a.m. Thursday morning until the time of service in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor. To send condolences to the family please visit www.cjlucasfuneralhome.com.
