SHEMONSKI — Dorothy C. Shemonski, 92, formerly of 168 Chestnut Lane, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Nottingham Village Nursing Home in Northumberland.
She was born in Strong on May 18,1924, a daughter of the late Peter and Martha (Drucis) Albin. She was raised in Strong and also lived in Mount Carmel before moving to Manville, New Jersey, where she resided for 35 years before returning to Mount Carmel.
She was married Sept. 4, 1948, in Our Mother of Consolation Church, Mount Carmel, to the late John Shemonski, who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2003.
Dorothy was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, formerly Our Mother of Consolation Church, Mount Carmel.
She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Malin, of Mount Carmel, and Florence Trefsger, of Danville; one niece, Nancy Bendas and her husband, Martin, of Ocean City, New Jersey; one nephew, Ronald Tresfger and his wife, Gail, of Mifflinville; as well as numerous grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Leonard, and a sister, Martha Mish.

Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Ave., Mount Carmel, with Reverend Martin O. Moran III, officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Viewing will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, with transferal prayers at 10 a.m. in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor.
