KULPMONT - John P. "Teddy" Tomtishen Jr., 66, of 525 Spruce St., passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in Coal Township, Aug. 16, 1957, a son of the late John P. Tomtishen Sr. and Shirley R. (Brown) Tomtishen. John was a lifelong resident of Kulpmont.
He was a graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, Class of 1975.
John worked as a laborer with the Heavy and Highway Construction Local Union 158.
On June 6, 1987, at St. Casimir's Church, in Kulpmont, he married the former Lynn L. Barwick.
John was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels, in Kulpmont. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kulpmont Sportsmen's Association, West End Fire Association where he was also a former chief and American Legion Post 231.
John cherished his time spent with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, foraging mushrooms, listening to polka music, playing the accordion and playing the daily numbers.
John is survived by his wife, Lynn L. Tomtishen, of Kulpmont; two sons, John P. (Kelly) Tomtishen III, of Lebanon Township, New Jersey, and David P. (Tracy) Tomtishen, of Catawissa; a granddaughter, Claire D. Tomtishen; two sisters, Shirley Ann (Joseph) Zenyuch, of Reading, and Donna (Marlin) Hodge, of Kulpmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Friday with Father Andrew Stahmer as celebrant at Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Marion Heights. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Friday with transferal prayers at 11 a.m. at C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.
