Raymond Bednar Obituary

COAL TOWNSHIP - Raymond Michael Bednar, 84, of 1506 W. Montgomery St., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, in Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on Aug. 29, 1937, he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Buckwash) Bednar.

Ray and his wife, Louise, who passed away Jan. 2, 2022, resided in Raymond's family homestead.

Ray was the owner-operator of Bednar Coal and Sanitation Service for 28 years. He started his own business in 1970 and previously drove a dynamite truck. He also drove a beer truck for Marcinek's Beer Distributors and worked at Negherbon's Garage in Coal Township.

Ray and Louise were married in a cathedral in Baltimore, Maryland, by the Rev. Porter J. White. They were married for 64 good years.

Ray always told his wife that if she died before him, she wouldn't have to wait long.

He experienced a lot of health issues over the years and died from an internal bleed.

Ray is survived by four children, Raymond, Kathleen, Janet and Elaine; 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Andrew and Joseph Bednar; and a sister, Anna Masiak.

Like his wife, Ray's body was donated to science.

BEDNAR - Raymond Michael Bednar, 84, of 1506 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township. A joint funeral Mass for Ray and Louise Bednar will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
