Robert E. Woodruff

ELYSBURG — Robert E. Woodruff, 96, of 233 S. Market St., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at home.

Born in Rush Township on May 24, 1915, he was a son of the late George and Lydia "Sarah" (Whalen) Woodruff.

He attended East River School in Rush Township up to eighth grade. He worked and love working as a farmer. He had also worked at TRW Danville from 1995 to 1980.

Robert was married to the former Leah Margaret Teitsworth, who preceded him in death Jan. 28, 2011.

Robert served on the Danville school board for 10 years. He was committeeman for Mayberry Township for 14 years. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Ellen Dormuth and her husband, Steven, of Etters, Jane Cropf and her husband, Thomas, of Northumberland, and Susan Ensinger and her husband, Rob, of Elysburg; grandchildren, Stacie Hetrick, Robert Cropf and Scott Mowery; great-grandchildren, Abigail Hetrick, Jordan Hetrick, Tyler Mowery, Ryan Mowery and Connor Hetrick; and a brother, Harold Woodruff, of Numidia.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Ralph, Paul and Lee; and a sister, Gertrude Roadarmel.

WOODRUFF — Robert E. Woodruff, 96, of 233 S. Market St., Elysburg. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Clark's Grove United Methodist Church, Irish Valley. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society and/or Pocono Plateau Music Camp Scholarship Fund, 304 Pocono Plateau Road, Cresco, PA 18326. Ray W. Rothermel Funeral Home, Elysburg, has charge of arrangements.
