MILTON - Roderic R. "Rod" Moore, 86, of Milton, died Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home.
He was born in Milton on December 7, 1938, and was the son of the late Charles F. and Leona R. (Reed) Moore.
Rod was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1957. He attended Penn State and then later transferred to Lycoming College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1961. Rod worked for Wise Foods as a chemist for over 40 years and retired in the early 2000s.
He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Milton for over 70 years, the Lycoming Alumni Association, Lutheran Seminary, American Chemical Society for Chemists and the Chemist Alumni Association. He had a heart for giving and was dedicated to helping those in need. Rod had a passion for classical music he knew exactly what song was being played just by hearing it, he loved to write ministry articles, computer programing, Penn State football and learning in general, whether it was online classes or reading about something new.
Rod was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by his dear friends: Mark DuRussell, Joan Warburton, Shelly Sholley and Sharon Foust, along with his Bethany family who will miss him dearly.
A viewing will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 107 S. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 with Pastor Travis Allshouse officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.
