Carol Lekavich Obituary

Carol Lekavich

Carol Lekavich, known by Lee Lee, went to be with the Lord at age 62 after a two year battle with cancer.  Carol grew up in Staunton, Virginia and later attended college in North Carolina.  After college, Carol moved to Virginia to further her education and be closer to family.  Carol worked in the Norfolk Public School system until retiring in 2013. She poured her heart into furthering early education development for children in the community.  Carol wore her heart on her sleeve and made time for everyone.  She is lovingly survived by her husband, Robert Putney; son, Greg Lekavich and his wife Erin; daughter, Abby Berquist and her husband John; youngest daughter, Megan McCormack and her husband, John in addition to their three boys to whom she was Grammy; brother, Calvin Jr. Depew and his wife Kenny; brother, Robert Depew; and sister-in- law, Carol Depew.  She was preceded by her parents, Calvin and Marilyn; and her firstborn son, Alex Lekavich.  Carol's deep faith in Jesus carried her through life and the last trying years.  We will honor her with a celebration of life service on Saturday, December 5, at 10 a.m. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1004 Graydon Avenue, Norfolk, VA   23507.  If you would like to wear the color periwinkle in honor of stomach cancer awareness, we invite you to do so.

I am so sorry to hear about LeeLee. She was a special friend many years ago at Sacred Heart Church when our children were young. I will always remember her beautiful smile and how genuine she was. I have not seen her for many years but hearing about her passing made me so sad. My thoughts and prayers are with her children and their families. Nancy Wilcox
