Harry William Taliaferro Jr., 81, of 476 Green Hill Lane, died Monday, November 2, 2015 in Augusta Health.

Born June 7, 1934 in Churchville, he was a son of the late Harry William, Sr. and Marie (Ashby) Taliaferro.  Mr. Taliaferro was a 1951 graduate of Churchville High School and a US Army veteran of the Korean War.  He worked as a field engineer for C&P Telephone Company from 1955 to 1964, and then was employed as a rural carrier for the U. S. Postal Service from 1964 to 1994.  He was also an agent for Erie Insurance Exchange for a number of years.  He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and a former member of the Churchville Rescue Squad and the Churchville Ruritan Club.  He enjoyed woodworking and was a lover of all things outdoors.  He was an avid hunter.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Wanda Clifton Taliaferro; three children, Kevin Clifton Taliaferro and wife, Kimberly, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kelly Taliaferro Berry and husband, Thomas, of Philomont, and Kimberly Ann Taliaferro of Suffolk; a sister, Patricia Elkins of Staunton; two brothers, James T. Taliaferro and wife, Linda, of Staunton and Joseph C. Taliaferro and wife, Maryann, of Churchville; three grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Taliaferro, William Berry and Sophia Taliaferro; three stepgrandchildren, Stephen Jones, Logan Meadows and Chase Meadows; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in St. James United Methodist Church, officiated by the Revs. Lester Kennedy and Jim Delp.  Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Hanger, Keith Wilkins, Bobby Truxell, Jim Delp, Harold Clifton, Gary Eutsler, Dr. Don Cromer, and Vaughn Ashby.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Taliaferro, Matthew Taliaferro, Eric Elkins, Mike Clifton, Greg Clifton, Monte Sellers and Ronnie Taliaferro.

The family will receive friends at the residence on Thursday.
