Age: 59 • Staunton
Shelby J. Carroll, 59, of National Avenue, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2017 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 6, 1957 in Craigsville, a daughter of the late Delbert Lee and Mary Little (Sprouse) Carroll.
Ms. Carroll was the Assistant Manager of Dollar General on Greenville Avenue for 13 years. She was a simple woman who liked crocheting and crafts, but especially family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Angela Mawyer and husband, Bundy, and Naomi F. Carroll; two grandchildren, Kelsea Mawyer and Gaia Taylor; five sisters, Sarah Lebo, Dorothy Garber, Rosa Carroll, Jackie Kelly, and Chessie Dice; a brother, James Carroll of MA, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Frances Carroll, and four brothers, Rodney, Charles, Ray and Roger Carroll.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Henry Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Angela Mawyer, 118 Mulberry Street, Staunton.
All services will be private.
