I just learned of Whitney's passing. Please know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers. What a joy it was to meet Whitney & Dixie several years ago when they visited Baxley, GA. Really enjoyed hearing about him dating my future Mom when he was in New Market when they were both young. Our correspondence meant a lot to me. Rest in peace, Whitney.

Hi. I was actually named after Rev. Parrish. He was my dad's pastor when he was still in school in Matoaca, VA, maybe in the early '50s. His name was Charles "Buck" Porter. Rev. Parrish made a big impression on my dad, so much so that when Dad went to Emory & Henry College his plan was to be a minister, although he decided to become a teacher instead. I guess they were actually both teachers, but in different ways.
I am very sorry for your loss. After reading the obit, I know that Rev. Parrish was a very impressive and accomplished man.
