Adrina Knutson Obituary
Her service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at Kenny Lake School, 5 Mile Edgerton Highway, followed by a short reception.
While on a University of Alaska Fairbanks sponsored film project in Tanzania, Africa, Adrina Knutson, 21, died Aug. 6, 2012, in an auto accident.
Adrina was born Feb. 16, 1991, the first daughter of Tony and Julie (Lightwood) Knutson. Her home was at Kenny Lake, on the homestead of her grandparents, Sam and Marian Lightwood. She attended Kenny Lake School for 13 years and completed three years at UAF as a film major.
From a young age she used art, photography, writing, dance and film to express herself. Adrina saw life as an adventure waiting to be had, taking along anyone willing. More importantly, Adrina knew God loved and cared for her and if she delighted in the Lord, He would grant her heart's desires. She threw herself into life knowing He would carry her through.
Adrina's life on earth was short, but filled to capacity, touching more lives than most ever hope to. Adrina has completed her journey and is now home; a more beautiful, energetic, and loving person than we can imagine. Adrina will be missed beyond words.
Adrina was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Dorothy Maxwell, and by eight days, her grandfather, Samuel Lightwood.
She is survived by her parents, Anthony and Juliana Knutson; sisters, Samantha, Kristi, and Deanna Knutson; grandparents, Marian Lightwood and Adina Knutson, of Kenny Lake, and Howard Knutson, of Alaska and California; aunts, Roxanne Mays (Tom), of Fairbanks, Gayle Vukson (George), of Wasilla; uncles, Sam Lightwood of Connecticut, and Ed Lightwood (Kathy) of Anchorage; cousins, Gina and Ryan Vukson, Jessica (Joel Smith and children), and Micah (Penny and children) Mays, and Piper and Max Lightwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Wells Fargo in Adrina's name for UAF film student scholarships.

Tony and Julie, even the distance between us, Alaska/South America, does not soften the blow for us. When we heard of Adrina's passing. Tears were shed in South America as well.
We are so very very sorry. We have so many wonderful; memories of Adrina and Brandon. Remember the Ninja Ballerina presentation they did for us at your house ? We got a picture if you want it. Such good memories and she is she is such a sweet lovely young lady, who loves God.
You did wonderfully in teaching and modeling Christ :)
Her presence in Heaven was required by our King and Lord and Savior. We do not understand His timing. But Praise God that she is with our Lord.
I have no words that can take care of the hurt you feel nor will I try, just know you are in our prayers daily.

We are sending our condolences to the Knutson family on behalf of Sandra Soren, Sean Topkok and Ray Barnhardt from the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies at UAF. Adrina worked with us last year as a student assistant in support of the M.A. and PhD students in our Indigenous Studies program. She was a joy to work with and always took the initiative to see that everything was taken care of in a timely manner. We will miss her joyful disposition and sunny smile around the office.
