Alfhild Raaum Obituary
Alfhild Raaum, our beloved mother, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, from complications of a stroke at almost 97. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Raaum, and her sister, Edith Kjorstead. Alfhild is survived by her son, Roy Raaum, her daughter, Ellen Page, and her son-in-law, Tim Page.
Born in Oslo, Norway, she moved to Canada when she was 8, briefly to Seattle and then to Fairbanks where she met Marvin and raised a family. Escaping the winters in Fairbanks, Alfhild and Marvin retired to Placerville where they loved to golf, ski and travel.
Alfhild worked for the Lutheran Church and then attended the University of Alaska where she received her master's and doctorate's in education. She taught in the Fairbanks School District for many years.
After Marvin's death, she lived in Mesa, Arizona, and later with her children. Alfhild was known as "Mom Raaum" to all of Tim and Ellen's friends and was always lively and active.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the First Lutheran Church, 1200 Pinecrest Court in Placerville, CA, 95667.

I knew Alfhild in three situations. We taught school together. She was a wonderful teacher. She was in Beta Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma with me and enjoyed her there as well. She and Marvin played golf at our golf course in the 1970s and 1980s. I enjoyed golfing with Alfhild. She was a remarkable person and I mourn her passing.

Alfhild was a colleague at Joy School where she taught third grade. She was always a lovely, kind, compassionate lady and a caring teacher. Alfhild was very friendly and helpful to others. May all your fond memories keep Alfhild alive in your hearts.
