Bobby Joe Trujillo

Bobby Joe Trujillo, 62, of Fairbanks, Alaska, passed away at his home on Sept. 28, 2025. He was born on Sept. 3, 1963, in Portales, New Mexico, to Joe Trujillo and the late Sally Jaramillo.
After earning a bachelor's degree in graphic design from Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU), Bobby began his career at KNEW, a Public Broadcast Station (PBS) that broadcasts from the campus of ENMU, before relocating to Fairbanks, Alaska. He spent most of his professional life at the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District print shop, where his creativity, dedication, and kindness made a lasting impression on coworkers and friends alike.
In the Fairbanks community, Bobby was especially known for his years of coaching youth sports and his passion for dancing. Always smiling and quick to make a new friend, he had a gift for making everyone around him feel welcome. His signature two-step - "quick, quick, slow, slow" - perfectly reflected his joyful spirit and love of life. You may have also seen him cruising around town on his unicycle from time to time, which always had people smiling.
Bobby is survived by his sons, Robert and Stephen Trujillo. His presence will also be deeply missed by his extended family, including aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Jaramillo; and his very close childhood friends, Jeff Hancock and Ronnie Tafoya - all of whom he has missed tremendously over the years.
A celebration of Bobby's life will be held in Fairbanks in early spring, with details to be announced on Facebook. The Fairbanks and Portales communities have lost one of their brightest lights - but those who knew Bobby know he would want everyone to keep on dancing.
