Cherie Hanson Obituary

Cherie Lynne Rice Hanson passed away in her sleep at her home in North Pole after a brief illness on March 11, 2015.
Born Jan. 7, 1949, in Burbank, California, Cherie grew up in California, graduating from Los Altos High School in 1967. 
Cherie, twice divorced, lived and worked as a secretary and human resources manager in Washington State and California before moving from Los Altos to Fairbanks on June 23, 1994.
From 1994 until 2015, Cherie lived and worked in Fairbanks, Dutch Harbor, Salcha and North Pole. 
Cherie is survived by her two twin daughters, Deitrie Hanson, of Bellevue, Washington, and Katlin Hanson, of Richland, Washington; an older brother, Jim Rice, of Henderson, Tennessee; and a half-sister, Rene Canham, of Benicia, California. 
Cherie is preceded in death by her mother, Madelaine Lynne Marchand, and her father, Gilbert Anthony Rice, of California. 
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Fairbanks Animal Shelter Fund.

Cherie and I were friends in high school. I remember fondly listening to the latest Beatles albums in her room, laughing in the halls, exploring modern dance, and always her kindness and wit. My condolences to all who felt her love.
