Christin George "Bumba" Holmberg

1988 - 2017

Our beloved Christin George Holmberg "Bumba" was born Nov. 19, 1988. Chris entered the world weighing only 2 pounds 2 ounces.  Born to his mother, Louise, and father, Wade, he entered the world as the youngest of four siblings, and he fit in the palm of his father's hand.
Big brothers, Alex and Lee, and big sister, Cyrillia, waited patiently for him to come home from his long stay in the NICU in Anchorage.
Chris may have been small at birth, but his joy soon grew to be immense. He was a happy little boy, his smile lit up every room, he was full of love and mischief.
Even as a small child, Chris had a talent for figuring out puzzles and solving mechanical problems. He played many long days with his sister, Cyrillia, as they were closest in age. He enjoyed fishing and many other boyhood activities surrounded by his large brood of cousins, with whom he was very close. Chris grew up in the Interior into a handsome young man. He lived in Fairbanks and Anchorage, went to fish camp on the Yukon River and hunted with his family. In addition to being with people, he loved to fish, skateboard, snowmachine and make necklaces. 
Chris worked many jobs, from construction to roofing, plumber's assistant and handyman. He put his heart and full effort into his work. 
Above all things, Chris loved his family and friends. He made attending family get-togethers a priority. His last words in any conversation were always, "Love you." He made sure to always hug hello and goodbye. Everyone who knew Chris would remark on how sweet he was and that his smile would melt their hearts.
Chris left our world shortly after his beloved maternal grandmother, Clara Clark, and was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ralph Holmberg Sr., and paternal grandfather, Lee Kalloch. He is survived by his parents, Louise Edwin and Wade Kalloch; paternal grandmother, Mercia Kalloch; maternal grandfather, Gordon Clark; brothers, Alex and wife Kendra, and Lee; sister, Cyrillia; nieces and nephews, Seth, Kiera, Savannah and Alma; paternal aunts, Amy and Chad Nusunginya, Gina and David Evans; and paternal cousins, Mitsi, Mathew, Alysa, Mindona, Jules, Chelsy, Nelowa and Chad Jr. He is also survived by his maternal uncles, Ralph Holmberg, Fred Holmberg and Darrell Holmberg; maternal aunts, Becky Gallen, Shirley Holmberg and Karen Clark; numerous maternal cousins, special adopted parents Kenneth and Cheryl Charlie; friends, David Thronsen, Delbert Thronsen Jr., Rashad Hych, Ben Nolder, Chris Theilmann, Zachary Dourdan, Troy Oliver, Cheryl Neglaska, Sam Mccaulery, Maximino Gonzalez, Jeffrey Fairbanks, John and so many more than we can name at this time but know he held dear to his heart.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 
Services will be held today at the David Salmon Tribal Hall with visitation at 11 a.m. and service at noon. Burial will be afterward at Birch Hill Cemetery and traditional potlatch at 6 p.m. at the tribal hall.
