Christopher Bean Obituary

Christopher "Chris" Henry Bean was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many in our small community of Fairbanks. He passed away in his home around Sept. 7, 2022, at age 60.

He was born to Thomas Edward Bean and Dessa Fae Dimbat on Oct. 10, 1961, in Roseburg, Oregon; the family moved to North Pole, Alaska, circa 1970.

As a child, he was very active in Special Olympics throughout the state and won medals for running. When he was younger, Chris lived in Anchorage at a group home where he attended and graduated from a special school. He worked at the Elk's Lodge there and in Fairbanks after returning.

Chris was known for his friendliness, sense of humor, gentleness and love of Star Trek. His favorite things were cooking, walking and watching movies. He was friendly to all and will be missed.

Chris was preceded in death by his father Thomas Edward Bean and sister Dana Rae Vargason. He is survived by his mother, Dessa Fae Dimbat of Macon, Georgia. Siblings Brock Matthew Bean of Fairbanks, Peter Layton Bean of Anchorage, Andrew Harold Bean of Fairbanks, Torynda Kae Bean of Fairbanks, Zachary Thomas Bean of North Pole and Tasha Renee Blalock of Macon, Georgia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

His service is Thursday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church in North Pole.
