Craig Petersen Obituary

Craig Petersen, 66, a long-time resident of North Pole, Alaska, passed away peacefully Oct. 8, 2023, at his home in Post Falls, Idaho, with his wife, Carole, and son, Chris, by his side. Craig bravely and courageously battled the devastating effects of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) for two years.

Craig was well known through his business, Polar Services Plumbing and Heating, and with the State of Alaska DOT. His reputation for integrity, honesty, hard work, humor and character will not be forgotten.

Craig was a true outdoorsman. Camping, hunting and gardening were his passions. Many stories (tales) were shared with friends and family around the campfire. His smile, laugh and sense of humor were contagious. He was a very happy guy; never complained and enjoyed life to its fullest. He was excited and looking forward to great adventures with his wife, as they had just retired and could start a new chapter in their lives together. The bucket list of fun had barely begun.

Craig's love of food and cooking were a priority. His fantastic meals and recipes were shared with many. Craig said he didn't know what he missed most with this disease - eating or talking!

Craig will be greatly missed by family and friends, but his memory will live on through countless stories and through his children and grandchildren who he loved deeply.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Yvonne; sister, Linda; wife, Carole; son, Cory (Shasta) and granddaughter, Codi, and grandson, Conner; son, Christopher, and granddaughter, Bethany, and grandson, Gabriel.

A celebration of life will be held in Arizona in February 2024. Details will be provided at a later date.

Donations can be made in Craig's honor to The ALS Association Evergreen Chapter, 19226 66th Ave. S., Suite L-105 Kent, WA 98032 or to any charity you prefer.

Craig was a dear friend. He was always there to help when needed. We worked together and shared a lot of good times. Hunting with his dad, Don, and sharing stories at moose camp. Craig was an honorable man and will be missed.
