Edward Neeley Obituary

On July 15, 2011, around 8 p.m., family and friends lost all contact with Edward Wayne Neeley. His last known whereabouts was the Lost Slough of the Nenana River in Anderson. After an extensive search on land, water and air, Ed's truck was found, but no sign found of Ed. He is missing and presumed deceased.
Edward was born Sept. 16, 1967, in Fairbanks, to Bruce Lowell Neeley and Beatrice Lee Neeley. He was their seventh and final child.
Ed moved with his family to Anderson in the summer of 1972. He graduated Anderson High School in 1985. He continued his education, taking vocational training school in Seward to certify in mechanics after high school.
Ed excelled in junior high and high school sports in Anderson. He still holds records in track and field.
Ed moved to Las Vegas, for a few years and to Lebanon, Mo., for seven years to be around his mother, Bea, and brother, James. Most recently, Edward moved back to the place he loved the most, Alaska, in fall 2010.
Ed was the kind of man who wore his heart on his sleeve. You didn't wonder if Ed loved you because he would tell you every chance he got. He would drop everything and come to your aid and work till the job was done, be it anything from building a home or rebuilding a motor to babysitting or just for company.
He was multi-talented in welding, carpentry, mechanics, electrical or operating heavy equipment. He could fix just about anything. He had a way to make you feel that you were the most important person in his life, no matter if you were family, friend or acquaintance. His memory will live in all who knew him and he will be sadly missed. Ed left this world too early and long before any of us were ready to see him go.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Lowell Neeley, and his brother, Bruce Lee Neeley.
Ed is survived by his mother, Beatrice Neeley; brothers, Delmar Neeley, James Neeley and sister-in-law Jannie Neeley; sisters, Teresa Kimball, Ruby Rivera and brother-in-law Ozzie Rivera, and Dallene Adams and brother-in-law Mark Adams; nephews and nieces, Delmar Neeley, Jesse O'Brien, Danielle Maxfield, Aaron Hodges, Jeffrey Adams, Jordan Adams, Chris Geisler, Dawn Geisler, Gene Geisler, Kathrine Combs, James Combs, and Teresa Combs, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank all those who participated in the search. Your efforts, thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at his sister's home, 131 Tonsona Road, Nenana, on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at noon.
The family requests donations to be made to the City of Anderson Volunteer Fire Department in lieu of flowers.

Dearest Eddie,
I will never forget the sound of your voice, the feel of your hugs, the pleasure of your company. As time goes by I know it will get easier to remember you without crying, but I sure dont feel it yet. I miss you so very, very much. I wish i could feel your arms around me just one more time. Please lord, take care of my bro. You have a loyal and faithful friend in him. Cherish him and ease his burdens and he will never disappoint you. Goodbye my baby brother. Rest now and go with god. I wish we could have found him, so his family could have that closure. Not knowing is painful for us all, but mostly for his family, we need to lift them up and pray for their healing. I will miss Ed, we spent a lot of time together as kids, then as adults we worked together as volunteers at the Fire Department, but more than that, he was like a brother, I will miss him.

Ed was my cousin, and I had the pleasure of getting to know him while he lived in Lebanon. He was a great help to my Mom, after Dad passed away, often doing things for her before she even asked. He was always happy, and had a smile on his face, and in his voice. He was a wonderful person, and will always be remembered with much love.

He was a big part of my life growing up as a kid. He was a great person and would do anything if you needed it. My thoughts and prayers are with the neely family. Ed was like an uncle to me and he always looked out for me. I will never forget how when I was younger he would walk in our house and say, "oh no, not you" I will always remember that. He was a good person and he is missed dearly.
