Glenn Frey Obituary
Frey had been fighting with intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. TMZ was told that his condition worsened in the last several days.
He co-wrote and sang many of the Eagles hit songs. You can hear his lead vocals on "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Heartache Tonight," and "New Kid in Town." He also co-wrote the legendary rock song "Hotel California" with Don Henley. He received a total of 6 Grammy awards with the band.
After the breakup of the Eagles in 1980, Glenn embarked on a successful solo career and had numerous hit songs including "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City."
Glenn also became an actor and had a recurring role on the TV series "Miami Vice."
He eventually reunited with the Eagles in 1994 for the popular Hell Freezes Over tour. He released his last solo LP called "After Hours," in 2012.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and became part of the Detroit rock scene in the 1960s. He became friends with fellow Detroit area rocker Bob Seger who encouraged him to write his own songs. He moved to Los Angeles and met Don Henley in 1970. Frey and Henley were hired by Linda Ronstadt to be part of her backing band. They then formed the Eagles along with Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon.

I just want to add that my daughter took me to the Eagles (with Deacon) concert in NY this past Sept. It was amazing!! Kudos to Deacon. He made his Dad proud! As I watched, it was touching to see Don glancing proudly at Deacon! Such an asset he and Vince have been to the band!!

Growing up with the Mersey sound over in the UK, I never thought I would witness another group that would rival the likes of those groups.
But along came the "Eagles" and the world took another turn!
I hope you, Glenn, and the rest of the members realize just what you did for so many music loving people? Your lyrics, harmony, professionalism and larger than life personalities were attributes that made life worth living as far as the music industry was concerned.
I was honoured to see the band twice at Wembley and thank you for lettting me have that as part of my own personal memories.
Thanks Glenn, what a talent you were.

I grew up listening to the Eagles at about 10 years old and now I'm 55 and still such a fan. When I first bought HELL FREEZES OVER BLU-RAY I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW THE SOUND COMING FROM THESE PROS COULD SOUND BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL ALBUM. Loved Glenn Frey and was so upset that he passed. Felt like I knew him personally but of course I didn't but felt sad and tears were shed. The Eagles was the first concert that was played at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK in which I attended and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. I loved the music and the showmanship was the best ever. He will be forever missed.

I will never forget getting to watch The Eagles concert in Las Vegas during the last week of December, 1999. It was the second of the two Nevada shows as they warmed up for another show as the next night they were to play in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve. Dear Glenn in Heaven I know you are looking down and taking care of your family one year has passed and I know it's not any easier on your family or friends my husband passed away 39 months ago. Keep all the memories alive and spend time at places you went together like walks in the park or any place that makes you have happy memories my daughter takes my grandson to the park and sends a balloon to heaven for Poppy on special days he was only six months old at the time but we keep his memories alive with him and tell him stories about him. We tell him how much he enjoyed listening to your music Glenn we always played the Eagles and the song no more cloudy days came out wh he was diagnosed with melanoma. I play it all the time and all the Eagles music. God Bless your wife and children we are going through the same thing it's not easy. Take one day at a time and pray and love each other every day. I look up in the Heavens and talk to my loving husband every day.

Dear Sweet family of Glenn,
I can't image the pain you are all going through, now especially at Christmas. I have loved all the Eagles members forever and always wanted to give back to them a gift to say thank you for all the years of gifts they have given to me. My family and friends always laughed at me because I wanted the Eagles to come to my home so I could cook them a traditional home cooked meal to show my appreciation for all the enjoyment I received from their music.I was and still am devastated on Glenn's death. I feel like lost a family member. Still hard to believe!

I grew up listening and loving the 'Eagles" Recently, I had the chance to see them live in concert twice prior to Glenns death.It was the most spectacular concerts Ive ever seen. The announcement of Glen's passing was a shock and so very painful. Sometimes when I listen to him sing I weep with sadness knowing the Eagles will never be together,nor the same without him. I graduated high school in 1972, heard my first Eagles song that night and have been an avid fan ever since. I always will be. Glenn was such a talented musician, singer and lyricist. I mourn his loss and the loss of the Eagles. I wrote to Rolling Stone
"My sympathy to David Bowie fans, but the Eagles will always be the soundtrack of my life. RIP Glenn. You deserved the cover."

Losing Glenn Frey is horribly crippling for his family,friends and fans across the planet. This was no fly by the seat of your pants rock band as the 60s exploded- the Beatles to the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Eagles phenomena still alive - after 40 years: song writers, lyricists, arrangers, vocals, melodies - what a package. The Baby Boomers and the Eagles were all the same age, we grew up together. We loved, chanting 'give peace a chance', we were love - like the Eagles. We were all in this together, this is why this hurts so much: we truly have passed a place of which we shall never return: we will miss all the Eagles, Glenn, Don, Tim, Joe, earlier artists in Bernie, Randy and Don...still on the radio. That's the good thing.
