Gustof Langworthy Obituary

Gustof Lee Langworthy, our treasured husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, has been taken home to be with his Savior.

While his homegoing came as a shock to us, we can find comfort in Isaiah's noting that His ways are higher than ours, and in the words of Singne Aune (Gus' mother-in-law), "God knew this was going to happen."

Gus was born in December of 1945 in Seattle, Washington, along with his twin brother, George. Apparently, there was a potential mixup in the hospital around the time of their birth, and their name bands may have been switched. So, was Gus really Gus and George really George? We will never know; and it probably doesn't matter. What does matter is that the man known as Gus Langworthy was a good man in the truest sense of the term. Gus was known by all as a man of integrity. He was one of the hardest workers anyone who knew him had ever met. He loved his family and was so incredibly proud of them.

Gus had a vast array of interests. He was an avid pilot and fisherman - the stories he could tell from his time working on fishing boats in Southeast Alaska are as interesting and entertaining as any you'll find. The twinkle in his eye when he would tell them was even better. His ability to learn about anything was astounding; he was extremely intelligent. His mechanical prowess was second-to-none, and he applied it to cars, heavy machinery, clocks, boats ... just about anything, really. Most importantly, though, he was a child of the living God, saved by grace through faith, for which he was grateful.

He leaves behind him his wife of almost 36 years, Ann Langworthy; children, Gustof James Langworthy, Lee Langworthy, Florence Leigh, Ruth McDonald, Rebecca Stables, Renee Muir, Peter Langworthy, Rachel Escobar, Rakayla Langworthy; 24 grandchildren; brother, Gene Langworthy, and sister, Sharon Galvin.

While we mourn not having him here with us, we rejoice in knowing that because of Jesus, we have assurance that we will see him again (I John 5:13, Romans 6:23, John 14:3, John 3:16). Soli Deo gloria.

His memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at North Pole Missionary Chapel, 2485 Dawson Road, North Pole, AK.

God blessed Gus Langworthy and anybody who happened to be in his company however briefly. I had the privilege of working on the Alyeska Pipeline
for 35 years and a lot of that time as Security on the Main Entrance Gates at various Pump Stations. It was always a joy to see Gus´s trademark mechanics
truck approaching my post. He always exuded the the Love of Christ ! We never mentioned The Creator, but He was always there. When I read the beautiful obituary on Gus his love of Jesus was
confirmed. Thank you.
