Kitty Allen

1927 - 2021

Our beloved Kitty Elmina (Pitka) Allen, 94, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 18, 2021, at 10:55?p.m.
She was born in Rampart, Alaska, on April 18, 1927. She spent her upbringing between Rampart and Stevens Village on the Yukon River. Kitty is the daughter of Simon and Jenny Pitka, one of eight siblings, which molded her into the snarky and feisty women we have all grown to love and adore. Kitty was raised in the subsistence lifestyle being taught by her Papa. From this she had many stories of their adventures. In the times of living in the village, she had swam across the Yukon River, she taught herself how to read, resulting in a love for books. She enjoyed sewing and story-telling.
She married the love of her life, Robert Allen Sr., in the early 50s, and they moved to Anchorage shorty after where she had worked at Alaska Native Medical Center. It was there she had company often by her kids and grandchildren in the area. Kitty would often be found at the pan house with her poker face on; she also enjoyed Bingo, Scrabble, Rummy and Bonanzas. You could not take away Kitty's smokes and her Werther candies, either.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mildred Allen; grandchildren, Ahtala Allen, Alana Allen, Roberta Ackerman (Mark) and Renita Allen; great-grandchildren, Jaylen Rowlett-Allen (Amy), Chenoa Allen, Nathaniel Allen, Isabella Gray, Tristan Gray, Tatiana Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Cody Peterson, Mila Ackerman, Colton Ackerman; great-great-grandchildren, Omari Diagneault, Naveah Allen, Noah Allen, Neomani Allen, Nehemiah Brown; nieces, Jenny Ortiz (Joe), Darlene Jensen, Cora Simon (William), Ann Gossell (Ronnie), Jenny Smoke and Evelyn Parks-Lundeen; nephews, Simon Matthew, Don Pitka (Sylvia), Don Stevens (Suzanne), Russell Simon (Grace), Harold Simon (Beverly), and Glen Simon; along with numerous great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by parents, Simon and Jenny Pitka; husband, Robert Allen Sr.; her children, Robert (Bob) Allen Jr., Clinton (Guy) Allen and Lori Lafrance; grandchildren, Mickey Peterson and Andre Lafrance, brothers, William Sr., Edward, Arthur, Harry and Sam; sister, Mabel George, Annie Simon, and Cora Ivey; nieces, Neila Simon, Leah Okpealuk; nephews, Sam Pitka, Virgil Simon, Roberto Burgess Jr., Juan Santo IV, Arthur Pitka Sr., Arthur Pitka Jr., William Pitka Jr.
The funeral service is 10?a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, Chapel of Chimes, 415 Illinois St. in Fairbanks, followed by the burial in Steven's Village.
