Levi Michael Griffith

1991 - 2025

Longtime Fairbanksan Levi Michael Griffith passed away unexpectedly at the age of 33 on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025.
Born on April 8, 1991, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Scott and Nancy Griffith, Levi shared his birthday with his dad. After spending his first couple of years living near Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the family moved to Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Growing up in Alaska, Levi was always curious about how things worked. It wasn't enough that mom told him the electric outlets would shock, he had to test the theory by sticking a fork in! He loved to read and spent his elementary years competing for the most prizes possible. Being the middle child, he was always trying to keep up with Jacob while Noah was always trying to keep up with him.
Still an avid reader, Levi also enjoyed gaming and spending time with friends. A foodie at heart, he made the rounds of local eateries and posted reviews on Facebook, sharing pictures of his favorite fare. During football season and much of the rest of the year, you would find him at Fender's in his designated seat on Sunday mornings watching football and chatting. Levi worked at GCI as a customer service representative and really enjoyed working with his team and helping people.
Levi's kind and generous heart affected the lives of so many in our community, family and friends often benefited from his tech savvy knowledge. He really enjoyed organizing turkey donations for the Food Bank each November and spent several hours each year volunteering for organizations around town. On the flip side, he was also one of the most stubborn people alive and could debate with the best. There was no use trying to change his opinions!
Despite all the people who loved him, Levi struggled to love himself. He battled alcohol addiction and depression for many years. In the end, his illness won and he took his own life. All who have known him hope his soul has found peace.
Levi is survived by his mom, Nancy Griffith, and brothers, Jacob and Noah Griffith, all of Fairbanks, as well as a lot of extended family in Iowa. He was preceded in death by his dad, Scott Griffith.
The family requests that any memorial contributions be sent directly to the Fairbanks Community Food Bank.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, from 6-8?p.m. at Fenders, 636 28th Ave.
