Matthew Williams Obituary
Matt was born on June 27, 2000, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Matt enjoyed many hobbies including running, weightlifting, baseball and snowboarding. His family was lucky enough that a few of these hobbies were shared passions.
When Matt and his sister were kids, they spent a lot of time attending local races with their dad to cheer their mom on as she ran. Eventually, Matt also developed a love of running, and soon it was just his sister and dad who cheered, as Matt was running with his mom. When it was too cold to run, Matt turned to snowboarding. This was an activity that he frequently did with his sister and dad, with dad on skis and the two siblings on snowboards. It was a rare occasion if they ever missed a good day to hit the slopes.
No matter what activity Matt pursued, he was always determined to master it, whether that be rising to the rank of black belt in Tae Kwon Do or being the best unicycling juggler any of us knew out of the North Pole.
His wit will always be remembered. He was a quiet guy, but without fail he would have something smart to add to the conversation. His sister will definitely always be jealous of how good he was at math. From now on, every time we put on our running shoes or click into the bindings of our skis and snowboards, Matt will be in our hearts and minds. His family will never stop loving Matt and missing him.
Matt is survived by his parents, Carol and Doug Williams of North Pole, Alaska; sister, Kimberly Rose Williams of Seward, Alaska; grandmother, Peggy Conway; uncles and aunts, John Conway (Denise), Peggy Sorrells (Steve), Kathleen Kohntopp (Mark), Dawn Williams, Linda Williams, Steve Williams; and cousins, Luke (Nikki) Conway, Beth (Ray) Fowler, Elizabeth Williams, Derick Schuetz, Tyler Schuetz, Corey Schuetz.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, John Conway, Jacquelyn Williams and Stan Williams, and cousin, Jake Conway.
Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1300 Peger Road, Fairbanks, AK, 99709, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to: Alaska Wild Baseball Club, 2694 Deepwoods Dr., North Pole, AK 99705, Attn. Matt Williams Memorial Scholarship.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fairbanks Funeral Home.

I will never forget the day of fishing spent with family off of Big Pine Key. Even though I couldn´t stay as long visiting as I would have loved, I will treasure this moment in my heart.
I was also blessed to spend time with Doug, Kim and Matthew at Seaworld. One scary ride in particular stays with me when our kids got mad at Doug and myself for bringing them in it. It makes me laugh and smile.
I am keeping you in my prayers always and will love you forever.
