Robert Dodds Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Robert Anthony Dodds of Fairbanks, Alaska, on Jan. 10, 2024, at the age of 68.
Robert was born on Dec. 17, 1955, in Freeport, Texas to Bob and Claudia Dodds.
He is remembered fondly by those who knew him as a loving family man. He was a hard worker, and possessed a great sense of humor and an intelligent mind. Robert is survived by his wife, Leda Dodds, and their children: Ian, Ethan, Erin, and Patrick Dodds. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Ashley, Gage, Anna, Abigail, and Eldin, as well as a great-grandchild, Arlo.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Claudia Dodds, his sister, Suzette Dodds, and his brother, David Dodds.
Robert was a lifelong union man. He served as a crane operator for 47 years at I.U.O.E Local 450 in Houston, Texas, and Local 302 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was highly skilled in his profession.
Outside of work, Robert enjoyed watching old movies with friends, serving as an excellent pit boss during barbecues, and had a special place in his heart for his children and grandchildren. A lifelong Catholic, he consistently sponsored a child through the Church and World Vision.
A ceremony to honor the memory of Robert Anthony Dodds was held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Chapel of Chimes. He will be buried in Texas with his father, mother, and sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charitable cause of your choice in Robert's memory.
May the memory of Robert Anthony Dodds bring comfort to his loved ones during this difficult time.

My heart is heavy for the Robert Dodds family. I met Robert, Leda, Bob, Claudia & Suzette many, many years ago when David was married to my sister, Jimmie Carol.

I found Robert's obituary by accident when I was trying to locate Isaac. His grandma, Ann Clark, died on 10.18.2024.

As crazy as it sounds, my heart is heavy with tears for the Dodds family.

Few words can express the sorrow in my heart. How can one explain the pain of losing a parent, someone who gave you life, who was always there, who raised you, nurtured you, and shaped you into the person you are today? It came too soon. Now all we have are our memories of the time we spent together.

My father was a man who always strived to do what he thought was right. He had a very strong sense of responsibility that guided his actions. He was funny, he loved to tell stories about his life back in south Texas (Galveston, Freeport, Oyster Creek, etc.). It touched my heart to see all his old friends here in Fairbanks at the funeral, people who I remember seeing around the house since my childhood. Pete, Art, Cynthia, Shannon, they all gave such sentiments and kind words. Seeing them there, and hearing what they had to say, made me realize how much my father impacted the lives of those around him.

I love my dad. No one knows what lies in that great undiscovered country beyond life and death. If there is justice in the world, I hope to see my father again someday. But while we are still here on this planet, we have our memories of those who we shared our lives with. They touched our lives, as we touch the lives of others, and so on and so on, as our actions echo into eternity.
