William Bunch Obituary

On May 21, 2016, William "Bill" E. Bunch Jr. quietly passed away at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He fought a long and hard battle with emphysema/COPD. Bill was 64.
Bill was born July 31, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, to William E. Bunch Sr. and Betty L (Campbell) Bunch.
Bill resided in Fairbanks for many of his younger years and returned permanently in 1965. He graduated from Lathrop High School in 1969. While working at Santa's Bakery, he met and married Barbara Lash in 1972. They had two children together: son Christopher and daughter Chanell. Bill also worked at Pepsi and Alaska Beverage/Odom Corp. At the time of his death, he was employed at Quality Sales.
In 1980, he met his wife, Lyn, and they were married in 1984. Together they also had a son, William (Billy).
Bill was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing first as a child with his father, and later with friends. He loved all sports. He bowled during the winter months and played golf during the summer. He coached recreational and competitive soccer for several years. Bill spent many summers with his family and friends at Harding Lake. He especially liked taking a break from the long winters in Fairbanks and vacationing in Hawaii and Mexico with his family.
Bill spent most of his life in Fairbanks and knew many people, both through work and socially. He had many good friends, a few whom he will be joining in heaven, and many here on earth that will miss him greatly. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend.
He is preceeded in death by his father, William E. Bunch Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lyn, and sons Christopher (Dorene) and Billy (Angela) and daughter Chanell (Jason) Masterson, all of Fairbanks; mother Betty L. Bunch; and sister Elizabeth (Darrell) Odom, of Kelseyville, California; as well as three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. June 11, 2016, at the Elks Lodge. Flowers can be sent to the Elks Lodge on the day of his celebration of life.

Lyn, I am very sorry to hear about Bill. It is so hard to believe that so many of our friends and family are leaving us. I enjoyed very much the years we spent working at Alaska Beverage, bowling, ad hanging out at the lake. He will be missed terribly.
