Zackary Sommer, 17, of Fairbanks, died Nov. 15, 2021, in a vehicle accident. He was born March 24, 2004, in Anchorage, where he lived for eight years before moving to Fairbanks with his family.
Zack graduated with honors 1½ years early from Raven Home School. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping and shooting. He always had a smile on his face and loved cracking jokes and helping people. He was a manager at the Johansen McDonald's, where he worked since he was 15.
Our son Zack will be truly missed. We feel he was taken way too soon; he had just started living. Zack always made us happy and laugh with his goofy ways and sense of humor. Zack was always willing to help out with anything that needed to be done on the farm. We spent our last summer fishing and camping. Zack was already thinking of fishing next summer. Zack had a way of brightening everyone's day around him with his smile. We love you, son.
Zack is survived by his parents, Lou and Yolanda Sommer of Fairbanks; grandparents, Rich and Pat Dilallo of Oro Valley, Arizona; sisters, Amber Fitzpatrick and Heather Conyers, both of Crestview, Florida, and Rayne Sommer of North Pole, Alaska; brothers, Justin Gullickson of Newport, Oregon, and Randy Sommer of Elgin Air Force Base, Florida; four nephews, three nieces, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life for Zackary will be held at 3?p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at the Pioneer Park Centennial Center in the blue room. Memorial contributions can be made to a fundraising page on Facebook at bit.ly/3cFKK7d, set up by his sister, Heather.
