John (Jack) A. Saunders

John (Jack) A. Saunders, 90 of rural Geneseo, ND passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 at his home. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 9-11 am. There will be a rosary led by the Kc's at 10:30 am followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. all at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Cayuga, ND. Burial with military honors will be at the Cayuga Cemetery.
John A "Jack" Saunders was born on October 10, 1935 in his grandmother's home, rural Lidgerwood ND. He was the son of Myrtle (Peffer) and John Saunders. He attended grade school in Kingston Township then high school in Lidgerwood ND. He graduated in 1953. He then worked for the railroad and farmed alongside his father. Jack met Karen (Breuer) and they were married November 15th, 1958, in Mooreton, ND. Jack entered the Army on December 5, 1958. Both Jack and Karen spent 18 months stationed in Ulm Germany where their son Keith was born. Together they had four children, Keith, Kathleen, Daniel and Thomas.
Jack farmed with his son Keith until retiring. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He was a member of St Peter and Paul Catholic church, Lidgerwood Knights of Columbus, Cayuga American Legion Post 294, National Farmers Organization, Tewaukon Rod and Gun Club, Dakota Antique Power Tractor Club, Cayuga Community Cemetery Board, and the Kingston Township assessor for many years. You could always find Jack on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings having coffee, shaking dice at the senior center in Cayuga. Also, from time to time you could catch him at Butches Bar keeping up with the local talk. In conversations there was never a dull moment with Jack weather it was hearing about his past shenanigans or an Ole and Lena joke. Jack will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife of 67 years, Karen, his sons Keith (Cindy) Saunders, Tom (special friend Julie) Saunders, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John & Myrtle Saunders, Sister Jeanette (Tom) Butler, his brother Darell (Carol) Saunders, daughter Kathleen and son Daniel.
