Alan Lee Hubatka, 81, of Cary, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Hospice of Wake County.

Alan was born December 8, 1931 in Linden, NJ to the late Charles and Doris Paley Hubatka. He was a veteran of the US Army and graduate of Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ. Alan was employed with Bristol Myers retiring with over 30 years of service at the Head of Accounting and Finance. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Hubatka.

He is survived by his companion, Peggy Carriger; children, Debby Hubatka Scott and her husband, John of Zebulon; Alan Hubatka and his wife, Sandy of Houston, TX; and Diane Hubatka Colgan and her husband, Naoise of Westminster, CO; and two grandchildren, Cian and Sarah Colgan.

A memorial service will be held 3pm Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends 2-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park at 11 am Thursday, November 14, 2013 in Elizabethton, TN.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Al was a good friend and neighbor (Rahway, NJ), he and Sally were always willing to give a helping hand and there was always a welcome mat at the door. We will keep all the fond memories spent with Al and his family, camping, water skiing and just hanging out. We send our prayers of comfort to his family.
