Albert Roberts Obituary

Albert Perry Roberts, age 44, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Duke Medical Center in Durham. Albert was born on March 2, 1965 in Vance County to Joyce Goswick Roberts and the late Arnold Roberts. A member of the Sons of the Legionnaires, Albert was a kind, gentle and caring man who developed a strong passion for Chevrolet hot rods at an early age. He was a devoted NASCAR fan who idolized Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Albert is survived by his loving mother, Joyce Goswick Roberts of Franklinton, NC; his brother, Craig Goswick Roberts; and sister, Denise R. Roberts, both of Franklinton; special cousins, Jacob Goswick and Rebecca Goswick of Franklinton; and two great uncles, C.D. Beckham of Henderson, NC, and Barney Roberts of Franklinton. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Roberts, his brother, Dean Roberts, maternal grandparents, Hixie and Henry Goswick, and paternal grandparents, Julius and Iris Roberts. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Franklinton Chapel, 504 E. Mason St. in Franklinton. The Reverends Clyde Waiden, Jack O’Neal and David Averette will preside with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday evening from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Franklinton Chapel, formerly Franklin Funeral Service. Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made in Albert’s memory to Friends of the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, 1841 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27635; or the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
