Andrew McLean Wood, Jr.

Raleigh

Andrew McLean Wood, Jr., son of Andrew McLean and Marie Louise Emma von Zengen Wood, passed away on July 21 at the age of 88. "Coach", as he was known to many, was a teacher and coach for 41 years in Wake and Washington counties. He was a husband, father, grandfather, teacher, friend, and paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne who loved golf, Thursday Night Poker, and his alma mater, UNC. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Andrew M. (Andrea) Wood, III; daughter, Vikki (Richard) Newell; step-daughters Barbara (Bill) El Daly and Joanne Pulley; stepsons James (Tammy) Kuehl and Thomas Kuehl, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral service is Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00 am at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church with visitation preceding the service from 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the church atrium. Inurnment is at St. Raphael Memorial Garden and Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UNC Children's Hospital or the charity of your choice. "To live your life in your own way; to reach for the goals you have set for yourself; to be the you that you want to be; that's success."

Coach Wood, you will be greatly missed by everyone who new you. I had the pleasure to know you and play for you while attending Enloe High School. Years later you still remembered everyone who you had coached and taught.You will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure to know you.
