Anne Marie Fishburne

Anne Marie Fishburne passed away peacefully at her home in Raleigh the morning of June 8 after a 12-year battle against cancer.
Born in Albany, Georgia, at Turner Air Force Base, Anne is survived by two daughters, Stacey Fishburne Vernon and Kelly Fishburne Vernon, both of the home. She is also survived by her mother, Kitty Lemon Dawson, of Greensboro, NC, who was married to the lateEd Dawson.
Also, she is survived by her father, E. Ritchie Fishburne, and his wife, Teenie L. Fishburne, of Greensboro.Also surviving are Chip Fishburne, brother, and his wife, Cindy of Alpharetta, GA; Keith L. Fishburne, brother, and his wife,Michelle of Wendell, Eddie Fishburne, brother, and his wife, Kelly of Raleigh; and one nephew, one niece, and many cousins. She is also survived by her lifelong friend Betty Nixon Morgan of Greensboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Labyrinth Fund at Millbrook Baptist Church (1519 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609); the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (2310 S. Miami Blvd., Suite 138, Durham, NC 27703); or the NC Coalition Against Sexual Assault (183 Windchime Court, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27615).
A memorial service to celebrate Anne's life will be held Sunday, June 12 at 3 p.m. at Millbrook Baptist Church located in Raleigh at 1519 E. Millbrook Road. The labyrinth will be open prior to and after the service for those wishing to meditate and reflect on Anne's life. The family will receive guests immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at the church.
A private burial of Anne's ashes will take place at a later time at the family's farm in Virginia.
