Atlanta, Georgia - Annie Lois Davis Clement, aged 81, passed away in Atlanta, Georgia on July 27, 2024. Born on July 30, 1942, in Pittsboro, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of Dru Miller Davis and Clora Geneva Suitt. Annie was the proud sister to Joe, Alice, Sarah, John Ray, Clarine, Cat, and Pete. Annie was the Salutatorian of her graduating class at Lincoln High School in Chapel Hill, NC. After graduation her travels would take her to New York where at the age of 19 she married Albert R. Brown, in Kingston, NY. They went on to have four children, Albert, Anna-Maria, Alexis, and Amanda-Marie before her husband Albert's tragic death in 1967.
Annie was a dynamic listener with a sense of style and a gift for understanding people. She shared this gift and created meaningful relationships everywhere she went because of her nurturing and regal demeanor. She worked in hospital administration for several clinics throughout Durham, NC and Cleveland, OH, but her most treasured role was being a mother. She delighted in serving as room mother when her children were in elementary school, sewing their clothes and costumes, and making all the birthdays and holidays in the home special. Annie could always be found in the kitchen cooking special requested dishes for family and friends. When she wasn't doting on others, she enjoyed catching up on US politics and lounging at the beach.
Annie leaves behind a legacy of love and service to the community. She is survived by her three siblings John Ray Davis, Alice Holley and Clarine Hyman, four children, her grandchildren, Brooks Brown, Alexis Brown II, Ryanne Hill, Ashlee Brown, Chaz Jones, Taylor Brazier, Alexandria Brown, Aric Jones, Alex Croley, Adrianna Brown, Michael Harris, Bryce Jones, Dia Jones, Kaitlyn Harris, Velanie Croley, Gilbert Croley Jr., as well as her 21 cherished great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Albert Brown, Howard Clement.
A celebration of life service will be held at 506 Ramseur St Durham, NC 27701 on Saturday, August 10th at 12:00 pm.
