I read his two works on the 1920's and found them enthralling. He was an excellent writer and must have cared for the subject. I found out about his passing whilst researching his works today and give my condolences.

The staff and volunteers at the NC Museum of History will be forever grateful for the many years of service that Barry gave to us. He truly loved teaching history to all ages and spent many hours helping the staff in any way possible. It's still hard to believe that we've had our last chat in my office where he would catch me up on what was happening with the family. We will miss him.
