Blake Rhea Barnes, 17 of 3747 Highway 48 South, Roanoke Rapids died Friday, September 20, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Blake was born January 22,1996 in Nash County to Rex and Melissa Barnes. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Linda Rowland Rhea and his paternal grandfather: Wiley Rexford Barnes, Sr.
He was a member of Quankie Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir. Blake loved singing and listening to gospel music. Blake was the type of young man who left a lasting impression on anyone he met.
Blake is survived by his parents: Rex and Melissa Barnes; his maternal grandfather: Bobby Rhea of Roanoke Rapids; his paternal grandmother: Frances Barnes of Halifax; his brother: Kyle Barnes of Washington, NC ; his sister: Mary Beth Cantrell and her husband Randy of Mt. Airy, GA; his nieces: Leah and Cheyenne Cantrell; his aunts and uncles: Ricky Barnes and his wife Bonnie and Renee Hall and her husband Scott all of Roanoke Rapids and Robert Rhea and his wife Theresa of Kenosha, WI.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, September 23, 2013 at Quankie Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Boyd and Rev. Billy Hardwick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at 3773 Highway 48 South.
