H. Brooks Britt was born on March 16, 1961 in Lumberton, NC to Sarah Williams Britt & the late N.C. State Senator Luther Johnson Britt, Jr. He died on June 21, 2014 in Mill Valley, California due to a massive heart attack.

Brooks graduated from Lumberton High School in 1979 where he was the drum major of the band & editor of the annual. He graduated from Duke University in 1984 where he was assistant gymnastics coach. He spent 3 years in New York City in marketing with the firm of John Frankie Productions.

He came back to Durham where he worked with the NC Arts Council & the NC Museum of Art as the producer & director of the Park Amphitheater overseeing the completion of the park & the production for the first year.

Brooks then resided in Topanga Canyon, California as the owner, writer, producer of BENT Enterprises as a creative consultant. In 1998 he moved to Mill Valley, Marin County, California & served as an educational mentor & as an admissions contact representative for Duke University. At the time of his death, he felt honored to be an integral part of the planning & development of the Terry Sanford 50th year anniversary at Duke University.

Brooks was preceded in death by his father, Luther Johnson Britt, Jr., his paternal grandpa rents, Luther Johnson Britt, Sr. & Beta Brooks Elkins Britt; his aunts Mary Brooks Britt & Dr. Marie Britt Rhyne; his maternal grandparents, Dewey & Rilla Hewett Williams; his uncle & aunt Robert Wilton & Dot McGirt Williams & uncle Max Bryan. He is survived by his mother Sarah Williams Britt, his brothers Luther Johnson Britt III & wife Ford ham, Lee Elkins Britt, & his sister Sarah (Sally) Beta Britt Rich; his nephews Luther Johnson (Luke) Britt IV, Williams Baldridge Britt,& John Mitchell Rich; his nieces Anne Christopher Britt, Lillian Jewel (Lilly) Britt, & Amy Rich Ford; his aunt Doris Williams Bryan; his cousins Gordon Bryan & wife Debi, Cynthia Bryan Whelehan & husband Lee, Bob & Dave Williams, Theresa Marie Rhyne, & special friends Ginny French Lyles & Tammy Dunlap Grant.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October4, 2014, in the First Baptist Church Chapel, 7th & Walnut St (chapel on 7th St. side), Lumberton, NC, at 2:00 p.m. The visitation & reception in the Ladies Parlor will follow the service.
