Wendell, North Carolina - Charles Howell Horton, 80, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023. He was born February 16, 1943 in Wake County to the late Charlie Lowell Horton and Leona Williford Horton.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at
L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by going to poolefuneral.com under Tributes.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Lou Massey Horton; daughter, Cindy Horton Green and husband, Eddie; grandchildren: Michael Green & Madison Green, Zachary Green & Skyla Green; great-grandchildren: Princess Charli Green, Johnson Green, Bennett Green; sister, Paulette Ray; sister-in-law, Sandra Massey; brother-in-law, Worley Massey and wife, Nancy, Robert Massey and wife, Joyce; sister-in-love, Mary Lou Penny and husband, Tom; 9 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his infant sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NC RUFF, P.O. Box 463, Garner, NC 27529 or Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
