Charles Mitchell Obituary
DURHAM
Charles Barrett Mitchell, 83, died Thursday September 12, 2013. He was born in Franklin County son of the late Lydia Hazel Green Mitchell and Owen M. Mitchell. He was retired as a Senior Claims Adjuster with GMAC and was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a military police officer. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years; Barbara Wright Mitchell a son; Timothy Charles Mitchell, a brother; Henry Carl Mitchell and a sister; Jewel Mitchell Davis.
A funeral service will be held 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon September 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Youngsville Town Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by a daughter; Sherry Ann Whitfield and husband Keith of Durham, sons; Barry Dean Mitchell and wife Caryl of Tryon, Jeffrey Brian Mitchell and wife Laurie of Durham, Steven Charles Mitchell of Youngsville, a sister; Sarah Mitchell Lowery of Youngsville, brother; Fred Mitchell of Youngsville, grandchildren; Kevin Mitchell, Vlad Mitchell, Tim and Heather Whitfield, Nina Mitchell and Ashley Whitfield, great granddaughters; Rayne and Elizabeth Whitfield, grand dogs; Barney, Duke, Brownie, Ginger and Lola; best friend; Norris Porter.
Flowers are accepted of memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Home for Children 600 College St. Oxford, NC 27565.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 Saturday evening September 14, 2013 at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center 405 South Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587. (919-556-5811)
