Clayton, North Carolina - Darrell passed away on October 7, 2022 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born in Springfield, MN to Melvin K. Weber and Velma Logue Weber on July 31, 1941. He attended school in Sanborn and South St. Paul, MN, where he excelled in academics, football and hockey. He attended Macalester College and Colgate University before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he was honored to be chosen for the Old Guard in Arlington, VA. He proudly served as an Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, and later, on the U.S. Army drill team, where he participated in the funerals of many statesmen, including guarding John F. Kennedy's casket in the Rotunda.
He met Nancy Leighton on a blind date in 1962 and married her in 1963. After graduating from University of Minnesota, he joined IBM in Minneapolis, MN. He and Nancy raised their children, Wendy and Jeff in Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Raleigh and Clayton, NC. After retiring from IBM, Darrell earned his contractor's license and built homes with Nancy and Jeff. He later worked from a building supply company in sales part-time.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, children Wendy Weber Deeds (Jim) and Jeff, grandchildren Oliver and Clementine Deeds, sister Lois Benson (Allen), brother Larry Weber (Bea), several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs Coco and Benji. A memorial service will be held in Minnesota in 2023
