David Paul Dorman, 58, of 10117 Walter Myatt Road, passed away on Sunday, following a courageous battle with cancer, with never a complaint. He called himself the last professional black and white photographer following a thirty year career as a photo lab technician, manager, and owner. The last seventeen years he worked with the N.C. Dept. of Transportation Photogrammetry Unit, printing aerial photos for highway design.
David was a devoted, loving husband, father and brother. He will be remembered for his honesty, love of life, humor, loyalty and compassionate love for his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents the Reverend Norwood and Mrs. Virgie Dorman and three dear friends, Kent Hilliard, 19, Steve Keith, 29 and Brett Wegner, 46.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 noon, at Kennebec Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Kennebec Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of thirty four years, Ellen Dale Rogers Dorman, son Jonathan David Dorman, and daughter, Jamie Lynn Dorman, of the home, sister, Sharon Morehead and brother, Lynn and wife, Angie Dorman all of Willow Spring; nephews, Stephen Dorman and wife, Wendy, Jeremy Morehead, great niece, Amber Dorman, nephew, Jerrod Rogers, niece, Hannah Rogers Wagner, great-nieces, Savannah and Sarah Wagner, father–in-law, Lewis Rogers , and brother-in-law, Bruce Rogers.
The family will receive friends 6:00–8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
