David Mertz, 70, of Cary died July 3, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edith.

David is survived by his wife, Gloria, sons Craig and Derrick, and daughter-in-law, Christine.

Donations to the David Mertz History Scholarship should be made to Heidelberg University, 310 East Market St., Tiffin, OH 44883.

A private service will be held in Vermilion, OH.

The best brother-in-law in the whole wide world. More a brother than an in-law for sure. Loved so much for so many years a part of the Gimben family. He was taken from us all too soon, but we were so lucky to have had him in our lives.
