I just stopped in Beaufort to say hello to my friend on our semi annual cruise up/down the ICW and after several inquiries about DR I became concerned.
Fond memories of CR, CH and Beaufort visits.

Not a day goes by since your death that I dont think of you and I am in disbelief that you are gone. We had talked just a few months before your death about you coming out to Napa Valley where I live to go wine tasting. You have been in and out of my life for 47 years. I will miss our late night chats and that charming smile. Sail on dear friend.

David was truly one of a kind.
I always looked forward to seeing him at reunions and enjoying his tales and tunes. He will be missed by many.

David:
You and I have always been friends since I was hitching out to Star Point and you picked me up in your sports car back in '68. You liked where I was living on the pond in Chatham, so you bought the place. Fast forward fifteen years, you booked The Attitudes, and we always had stuff to discuss as we made our ways up West Franklin and down McCauley. As long as there's a West End, we will always miss David Robert.

D.R. Loved and known as well as any of us could and did. Gone way too soon for we his contemporaries in age and never mind those younger ones who will only hear about him whether embellished or not. You had to be there. and he was. I am stunned and regret no side trip taken to The Mule over the years, driven by on jaunts to Chapel HIll. I always thought there would be another chance.

I knew him for a good spell and yet not long enough. And I will continue to look up from my day thinking I'll catch a glimpse of him in purposeful observant stride through one of the places he loved best.
