Dawn Russo Crotty, 64, beloved wife of Tom Crotty, died February 11, 2017 in Raleigh, NC. Born in Winchester, MA to the late John and Sheila Russo, she was a resident of Stratford, CT, and Rock Island, IL, before moving to Raleigh in 1991. She was a graduate of Lauralton High School, Boston College, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to starting her family, she lived and volunteered at the Catholic Worker House in Davenport, IA.

Dawn was a longtime volunteer with the marriage preparation and caregivers ministries at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. For the past 18 years, she worked as an administrative assistant at NCSU.

Dawn will be remembered for her kindness, caring, and strength. Her family meant the world to her and she to them, and she will be greatly missed. Dawn is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Tom; her children, Michael and Niamh, Kevin and Caitlin, and Matt and Lauren; her grandchildren, Liam, MaireAine, Nuala, Dylan, and Grayson; her brother Kevin Russo and fiancee Judi Giammarco, and sister Robin and husband James Valle. She was predeceased by her brother, David Russo.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Transitions LifeCare Hospice for the compassionate care and support they gave to Dawn and her family.

A visitation will be at 12:00pm on Wednesday, February 15, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC.
