Delbert Ford Obituary
Passed away on June 10, 2009, as a result of an accident at his home in Placerville. He was 65 years old. He was born in Sacramento, Calif., on October 16, 1943. He graduated from San Juan High School class of 1961. He was a graduate of Pasadena College in Pasadena, Calif., and earned master's degrees from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo., and from National University in Sacramento. He was a much loved teacher at Green Valley Elementary School in Cameron Park until his retirement this May. Del leaves his wife, Linda of Placerville, son Shawn of Auburn, daughter Kristi and son-in-law Jeromey Sisk of Carmichael, grandchildren Ian, Edie, and Eden Ford of San Ramon, Calif., and Hailly Sisk of Carmichael. Del was a very active part of the Placerville Church of the Nazarene. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the Placerville Church of the Nazarene, 6040 Mother Lode Dr., Placerville, Calif. Memorial contributions may be given to the Placerville Church of the Nazarene to be used for the new children's playground structure.

Linda, I had just decided to look you and Del up after many years only to find out Del passed away. You and Del were there for me as a teenager (somewhat troubled). Only one word can discribe Del and the way he always kept a watch-out for all my lil' ones, "LOVE". He is that set of footprints in the sand whenever I AM in ABSENCE of grace. He is right where we all long to be, without any doubt. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

I am sorry of the passing of Mr. Ford. I spent the 4th grade with him. He was my favorite teacher and a very good one. I will always remember much of what he taught me scholastically and about life.

I can remember hearing Mr. Ford tells stories since I was so little. What I remember is how much I enjoyed listening to him talk once I got older. Most of all, I loved how he was the one to get me to make the decision to go to Nazarene Theological Seminary. I had been putting off that decision for a long time, and he insisted that I take my classes there, after attending another college. Early on the day of his accident, I was thinking of him. He talked about a college professor that made the class write huge essays every week, and how he kept all of his essays in a binder. I decided that on Sunday I was going to ask him if I could see what he wrote. But that evening, I found out about his accident. It didn't really hit me so hard--until tonight. I miss him so much, and there are so many things I regret not asking him. But I do want his family to know (and I'm sure they already do) that he was a wonderful man. I will miss him so much.

We miss Del so very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Del was more of a brother than a friend. I know he is in the company of our Lord Jesus Christ, and maybe say hello to our beloved son, Michael. We all loved Del dearly. We had so many good times together. We will all be with him shortly. My son Zyan Magallanez was in Mr. Ford’s fourth grade class this year. My son loved Mr. Ford and valued all of his teachings. He recently told me about the time that Mr. Ford brought Mrs. Ford and his dog Brendy to the class to meet the kids and how Mr. Ford had talked to the class about his upcoming retirement with tears in his eyes. He was a very special man, I didn’t know him personally but feel as if I do through all the knowledge, wisdom and stories my son has shared with me throughout the year. I would like to send my deepest sympathy to Mrs. Ford and all of the family. My son was fortunate to have Mr. Ford as his teacher and will cherish all the special memories of his fourth grade year. We will miss you Mr. Ford.

Del was our pastor back in the 70's in Davis, and, along with Linda, became one of our favorite people. He was so tender. Both of my girls had Mr. Ford as a teacher at Green Valley and we were very sadden to hear the news. He was a wonderful teacher, very caring, truly cared about his students. He will be truly missed.

I am so very sad to hear this news. Mr. Ford was a real mentor for my son, and because of his dedication and determination to help my son, he was able to make a very smooth transition from special Ed to a regular classroom. I will miss him, and feel blessed that he was a part of our lives.

My identical twin daughters had Mr. Ford as their 4th grade teacher last year. They had so much fun playing tricks on each other and Mr. Ford. He touched them with his words of wisdom, humor, gentle manner, love of teaching and enthusiasm for life. He will remain in my girls' hearts forever. I am so very sad to hear that my former pastor and mentor is gone to be with Jesus but very greatful that I will see him again one day. Del Ford was my pastor when I was a very young Chirstian and he married my husband and I in 1978. Don and I have wonderful memories of Del, Linda, Shawn and Kristy when they lived around the corner from us in Citrus Heights. My love and prayers are with you all.

I am exteremly sorry for this great loss. I would like to say Mr. Ford changed my life. He was not only a great teacher, but inspired me to do things I would have never have done myself. As a member of Mr. Ford's last class I just wanted to say that Mr. Ford was the best teacher I ever had. He told us to never let anyone tell us we would not do anything with our lives. I will miss Mr. Ford dearly.
