Elizabeth (Betty) Dick

Knoxville, Tennessee - Elizabeth (Betty) W Dick, nee Elizabeth Ann Wright, passed peacefully at home in Farragut, TN, at age 84, surrounded by loving family and comforted by her husband, Jeremy W Dick, on June 25, 2024, of complications from Alzheimer's and a broken hip. She was preceded in death by her parents Owen D. Wright & Elizabeth W. Wright, of Henderson, NC. Betty is survived by her husband Jeremy, USN CPA; her son USMC Major "Mac" Dick and daughter in law, Kiersten G. Dick, of Trophy Club TX; her daughter, Mary E.D. Yates and son in law C. Ryan Yates, of Collierville, TN; her grandchildren, Graham M. Dick, Logan E. Yates, Catherine G. Dick, and Peyton R. Yates; and her brother, Owen D. Wright and his wife Dawn R. Wright of Pawley's Island, SC.

A memorial Service will be held Saturday June 29, 2024 at 11am EST at Farragut Presbyterian Church, in Farragut, TN. If charitable donations in her honor are preferred, the family suggests Smoky Mountain Service Dogs at www.smokymountainservicedogs.org. Interment of her cremains will be held October 2024 at St. Phillip's Episcopal Church in Bradford Springs, SC.

Most noteworthy to Betty's legacy was her leadership and participation in the incorporation of Farragut in 1980, with her recruitment of Ralph McGill and David Rogers. She served as North Ward alderman from 1981 to 1987 and on the Planning Commission from 2012 to 2021. She served the Anderson County and Loudon County Health Departments as nursing supervisor for 10 years, from 1999 to 2009. Betty graduated from Watts Hospital School of Nursing, in Durham NC, in 1962. She married Jeremy in 1963. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
